However, Albion have been dragged into a controversy emanating from Argentina in which CNN is reporting that Yacob’s former agent is threatening to sue the player, while Argentine lawyer Ariel Reck wants the English Football Association to investigate the transfer over the involvement of two unlicensed agents.
It is not known if the FA have bowed to the request of Reck, but Albion have quickly released a statement to plead their innocence in the matter.
It read: “As with all of our transfer dealings, the negotiation process regarding the signing of Claudio Yacob complied fully with all FIFA and FA rules and regulations. All negotiations were conducted and concluded directly with a FIFA-registered agent.”
