da spicy bet: Hello internet! Welcome back to another edition of Fantasy Premier League captain choices, in which we look into which players have a rather high possibility of earning double points for their respective managers.
da stake casino: But before we dwelve into our options, let’s look at our performance from the previous gameweek.
1. Romelu Lukaku (4)
2. Riyad Mahrez (3)
3. Sergio Aguero (9)
4. Philippe Coutinho (0)
5. Yannick Bolasie (5)
Recently we’ve had some rather positive results from our captain choices, but we have to say that Gameweek 33 wasn’t the best in our track record. Romelu Lukaku was expected to plunder the points against Watford and Crystal Palace, but Belgian frustrated his owners once again. Yannick Bolasie also had an extra game, but failed to make his double count. Riyad Mahrez was also expected to be involved against Sunderland, but it was Jamie Vardy whose brace pushed Leicester close to the title. Philippe Coutinho didn’t even feature for Liverpool against Stoke City, with only Sergio Aguero supplying the points with a goal and three bonus points (and one assist that wasn’t given!!!)
But this week it’s the big one, with no less than 10 teams having a double gameweek. Here are our FIVE CAPTAIN CHOICES ahead of Gameweek 34.
Alexis Sanchez
We could have gone with any Arsenal player in regards to their schedule, but the player of choice is Alexis Sanchez (10.9), who has been on brilliant form of late with three goals and three assists in his last six matches.
And ahead of a double gameweek against Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion both at the Emirates, we expect the Chile international to plunder the points and give a hefty boost to his owners.
Sanchez is undoubtedly the stand-out (but safe) option this week.
Daniel Sturridge
Is this Liverpool star really getting a consistent run of games without getting hurt? Yes it’s true, Daniel Sturridge (9.9) is back in the FPL world, and has been on decent form with three goals and one assist in his last four matches.
The Reds have a very favourable run of games for the remainder of the campaign, starting with Bournemouth (Away) and Everton (Home) this weekend for their DGW.
The only issue is with Liverpool progressing to the Europa League semi-finals, the England international could be susceptible to rest and rotation from Jurgen Klopp.
Sergio Aguero
At the start of the season, I bet you would have planned to have the Triple Captain chip right on Sergio Aguero (13.5) if he is given the double gameweek.
However, his form hasn’t been as brilliant this term and the Manchester City star has away games against Chelsea and Newcastle United for the double, with the Citizens (for the most part) struggling away from the Etihad.
But Aguero is Aguero, and he DID score five goals against Newcastle earlier this season. So never count him out. Never.
Dimitri Payet
Dimitri Payet (8.5) has been one of the best players in the Premier League this term, with nine goals and nine assists to his name despite missing a huge chunk of mid-season with an injury. And what we’ve learnt is the Frenchman is fixture proof, being able to score or assist against practically any opposition.
So ahead of a double gameweek against Leicester City (Away) and Watford (Home), Payet has two whole games to prove his ability, making him a definite captain option.
The only thing that was surprising is how he didn’t get his hand on any points in their 3-3 draw with Arsenal…
David de Gea
We must be absolutely crazy to consider captaining a goalkeeper, but in David de Gea (5.8) we have the most assured way into Manchester United’s rather strong back-line when they face Aston Villa (Home) and Crystal Palace (Home) in the double.
There’s not much to choose from the Red Devils attack, with only Anthony Martial (7.6) a guaranteed starter for these two games, making a defensive option in De Gea a more viable route if United are to accrue any Fantasy Premier League points from what is ‘on paper’ the easiest set of fixtures.
