da pinnacle: With EURO 2016 coming to an end in the near future more and more attention is being afforded to the approaching Premier League campaign.
da roleta: The 2016/17 season brings in a whole host of new faces with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, Antonio Conte at Chelsea and a certain Jose Mourinho set to take up the reigns at Manchester United.
Mourinho is aiming to return the club to the top of the Premier League pile and has already gone about shaking up the squad he has inherited. Eric Bailly has joined from Villarreal, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has moved from PSG whilst Armenian Henrikh Mkhitaryan has come in from Borussia Dortmund.
The Portuguese boss has clearly identified areas his thinks his team needs improving and has largely gone about bringing in players whose reputation his well known, but what about the players you may not have heard of?
So here are FIVE transfer unknowns Manchester United should target…
Terence Kongolo
United must be thinking about improving their defence. Eric Bailly has come in to clearly demonstrate that thought has crossed Jose Mourinho’s mind and with a back-line that still looks short expect more additions.
The Bailly deal came somewhat surprisingly and one for Kongolo could follow suit. The Swiss born Dutch international has worked his way through the Feyenoord system to now be a first team regular and it won’t be long before he takes his career to one of Europe’s top leagues.
Marco Benassi
Benassi’s career is beginning to gather pace and United should be monitoring him closely. The Italian moved to Torino from Inter Milan in the Summer of 2014 to earn more first team football – something he’s managed to do.
He’s also worked his way through the national team set up to now be the captain of the Italian under 21’s and with five goals in 16 appearances for his country he clearly knows where the goal is – not bad for a central midfielder.
Tonny Vilhena
The Dutch national team has been through the mill in recent years culminating in missing this Summer’s European Championships, the future though, looks brighter.
Vilhena can play in the centre of midfield, in the hole behind the striker or down his favoured left side giving United a naturally left footed winger – something they do not currently possess.
Carlos Fernandez
Big things are expected of Fernandez who is currently progressing through the youth set up at Sevilla.
He has 18 Spain under 19 caps to his name and whilst he is predominantly a centre forward he can also play down either channel.
Sevilla are known to want to keep the player as he’s seen as the ideal replacement for the likes of Kevin Gameiro but United should try and test their resolve.
Thomas Lemar
A young Frenchman coming through at Monaco set for a big future. Sound familiar United fans?
Lemar like Anthony Martial can play down either wing but favours the attacking midfield position over being an out and out centre forward.
He’s quickly progressed through the French national youth set up and it’s only a matter of time before he makes the final step to the senior squad.
