da dobrowin: Samuel Saiz wasn’t exactly a household name in English football when he arrived at Elland Road earlier this summer, but the 26-year-old winger-forward has already made himself a firm favourite amongst the Leeds support and is unquestionably in the running for the Championship’s signing of the season.
da bet nacional: Acquired for just £3.15million from Spanish second-tier outfit Huesca, the former Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid youngster’s pedigree has really shone through during his early outings for the Whites, which was the case again on Saturday as Leeds claimed a huge 2-0 win away at Nottingham Forest.
Indeed, the 5 foot 8 attacker continually threatened the Forest goal with five shots, mostly from long range, but it was his ability to generate scoring opportunities for team-mates that truly stood out, finishing the ninety minutes with six created chances to his name – working out at one created chance per seven passes.
There are still concerns over whether Leeds can hope to launch a successful title challenge this season after losing star striker and last term’s top goal scorer in the Championship, Chris Wood, to Burnley in a £15million deal.
But Leeds now boast so much creativity in attacking midfield through Saiz, fellow summer signing Ezgjan Alioski and Pablo Hernandez that they’ll provide more than enough chances for whoever is played up front – Kemar Roofe continued in the role on Saturday – to stick a few away.
Regardless of potential profligacy, Saiz is already emerging as one of the Championship’s chief creative threats.
