da doce: Leeds United have done a lot right in this transfer window, and one thing they have been quite good at sorting out is loan deals for their bright young talents.
da brdice: Ryan Edmondson, Jordan Stevens and Alfie McCalmont have gone out on loan, but one man who remains at the club is Robbie Gotts.
The young midfielder hasn’t been short of suitors this summer with both Huddersfield Town and Hull City looking to loan him in, but despite all of this interest, a move hasn’t yet come to fruition.
Gotts doesn’t look likely to get a go in Leeds’ first-team this season, he’s not made the bench in any of United’s first three league matches, and with Victor Orta still on the hunt for a new midfielder, he may soon drop further down the pecking order.
Of course, a loan move could still come to fruition, but with a number of games already gone this season, Gotts has missed out on a valuable pre-season period to get to grips with his new club and his new teammates.
Marcelo Bielsa is well aware of how frustrated Gotts must be by all of this, it’s understood that he once actually apologised to him in his office due to his lack of gametime with the Argentine telling him he’d understand if he wanted to leave the club, yet, here we are almost 10 months on from that story coming out, and Gotts is still being mistreated.
The U23 ace would have every right to be banging on Bielsa’s door to ask for an explanation as to why he’s not been loaned out yet, especially after the Argentine showed so much understanding for his situation earlier this year.
Hopefully, there is a plan in place for Gotts, otherwise, his development could end up stalling if he continues to miss out on opportunities to play senior football.
